1966 Ford Ranger

I have a 1966 Ford Ranger that I have been toting around since 1988. It is in my barn an I am going to sell it. How much would it be worth? It has the original 352 and an automatic. The body is in good shape with only a little surface rust, it is an Arizona truck. It has the bucket seats, but not the console. It has a pouch in both doors with a zipper closure. The side badge said Ranger, but it is very faded now. Thank you for any help.

Is it F100 or F250? Short bed or long bed? Color(s) of exterior? Color of buckets? Running? If you can put some pictures on photobucket and link to them that can help. I bought mine out of California, running, two engines, rear bumper was basically brand new, extra wheels. $1,875. Actually quite nice other than the surface rust. Mine has the console in great shape, too. It is F250 longbed which is less desirable to some but I like it.

If you can take a picture of or transcribe to here the Warranty plate on the door under the latch area we can decode it for you, too.

Thanks for the help. The body is white and the interior is red. Someone put a headliner in it, unless they came that way. It is a long bed half ton. It hasn't ran in 15 years. I drove into the barn and it has been there since. It is missing the tailgate and someone stole the passenger mirror. I think it has a hole in the right side of the bed where it looks like someone was going to add a gas tank. I will get some pictures when I get home. They won't be the best because it is in the barn and there is not a lot of room. I think I have the owner manual in the glove box. I didn't know if they were rare or the value. There are a lot of links claiming to have a Ranger but they are something else.

F100 shortbed probably the most desired among the masses. Correct tailgate probably at least a few hundred dollars if you can find one. The reproduction 1967-72 fits, but a little different design. Still a nice option for some if a 1964-1966 or used 1967-72 in good shape can't be located.

Those reproductions are $465 shipped. You can see the line around the FORD in the picture on their web site. That's the different design. Otherwise, should bolt up fine - but it would cost someone to replace it so they might factor that in.

Rangers are fairly rare in 1965 and 1966. I've probably counted less than 50 total so far. Of course, rare doesn't ALWAYS translate into desirable.

I started a thread to help keep track of 1965 and 66 F250 Rangers here and we only came up with about 6 so far. F100 Ranger finds are a bit more common, but still fall well in the rare category.

I have the information from the warranty tag. I tried to upload the tag image. Let me know if it works. I also put the information below.

W.B. 129
Color M
Model F100
B V81
Tran G
Axle 17
The truck is in good condition for 49 years old. Let me know where you think I should start the price.

I see the picture. Looks good. I don't have my info in front of me, but ND might be along soon. I can tell this much off the top of my head.

Y = 352 2V
K = Kansas City assembly plant
M = Wimbledon White
V81 = Red bucket seats - Custom Cab - Ranger
G = MX Cruise-O-Matic
75 = Phoenix, AZ District Sales Office - two digit DSO- not a special order

Thanks for the update. Your information describes the truck. It has red int, but a black dash mat. Everything is still there except the cover for the gas tank, the right mirror, and the tail gate.

Is the data plate back ground color black? or gray? If it is black the truck was originally painted with acrylic enamel, if it is gray the truck was painted with alkyd enamel. this info was found in the TSB #434 dated September 17, 1966. This info is for cars and trucks

As far as I remember it is grey. Does it matter what paint they used?
