Did your truck come with the tow package? If so, then yes, it's fairly easy. Order one online and watch a few videos of installation on youtube. It might take you an hour once you start.

If you'd like some more info..you can search the threads on this forum. There are a few with the same topic and more instructions

The hardest part is finding a dealer to activate it for a fair price. I had the remote start and brake controller activated at the dealership for one price. They charged me one hour shop time.

The install is easy if you have a factory tow package. If you do not have the factory tow package, you will need to run the additional wire to the back of the truck.
As stated above a reflash is required. Call a few dealers, it seems the prices vary widely on this.

Gt390,

I thought the harness was the same? Only harness that is different is where it splits by the spare tire. All other wiring should be there.

If you don't have a tow package you will be missing a couple wires in the harness. If I remember correctly you need the reverse wire, the charging wire and the brake controller wire. I think you will also be minus the fuses under the hood. You'll have to install the fuses & run the wires to the back of the truck.

I had a 2012 bare bones XL. Ordered a controller, and the wiring harness that goes from above the spare tire to the 7Pin plug. everything was fine, but there was 1 wire missing, that went from the firewall plug to the rear. tech ran another wire, and it worked fine. I installed the unit in the dash, and plugged it in.

There are a lot of post on this subject, so google it, and you will find a video, on how to install.
