Weird smell in reverse after startup
Here's my third post you guys are inspiring me to fix my truck! I have a 96 xlt f250 2wd auto powerstroke, just hit 90,000 original miles today. After I start her up I let her run for a bit to warm up, maybe 5-10 minutes. When I back out of my driveway I can smell something odd that I suspect is coming from my exhaust. This only happens on a cold start never when the engine is warm. Only happens in reverse, no smoke either. Could it be an oil leak somewhere getting through the exhaust somehow getting burned up? Trying to diagnose this is crazy but I'm hoping it's not an end of the world type repair. It's not a rubbery burning smell but it does smell like some kind of burning oil or liquid I can't put my finger on it.

Probably just UN-burnt diesel fuel. These truck don't warm up much just sitting and don't get the cylinders hot enough for good combustion. I wait until the GPR cycles by watching the volt meter gauge then take off. Even then backing up I can smell fumes a bit but once I go forward EGT's go up rapidly and it goes away. My truck has always done this so I just ignore it.
