I really wanted some black chrome wheels on one of my daily drivers a few years ago and started doing some research and found it was just a powder coat process and not chrome. Durability was my concern and some internet reviews seemed to back that up. It was a few years ago and things might have changed but just giving you something to think about

I think I will just go chrome, I like the picture of the one I have but I think they are really more black than silver colored.

The racing wheels I use on my Solstice are black powdercoated. Durability has not been any issue. Virtually all aluminum wheels are powdercoated these days, even polished "chrome" ones are clear powdercoated for durability, finish retention.

All the high gloss black wheels I've seen don't look so shiny after a year. You could probably buff it back out. I'm sure you had a few sets of wheels for your Pontiac and and a couple years of local ax racing isn't gonna be the same as being used on the road with rock chips and what not. Anyways that's just my opinion. I'd love to have the black chrome finish but got scared off from reviews I read

Mine are 8 years old and still shiny, granted they have not been used on the street, but were carried on open trailer for more miles than they would have gotten on the road for 2 years before switched to enclosed trailer, Were swapped on and off the car between 4 and 6 times an event x ~30 events/season.
I don't know that powdercoat can be buffed, maybe waxed but I've never waxed them.

I searched your krazed kanary to find a pic of your Pontiac and could only find a for sale ad from 2009 and some post and results from 2008? Did you sell it 6 years ago?

I have 20x 10's in the rear and 18x8's in the front on Goodyears Eagles. I like the look.

I guess I'm in the same boat, this is supposed to be a ratrod, I'm guessing I blew it!

looks awesome Don, do you think a 20 would fit in the front? The 18 20 combo seems to be what everyone likes but I want to keep the wheel diameter the same. I still want a decent thickness of rubber though, like what you have on the back.

I guess I am wondering what tire diameter can I run in the front, like a 28 inch tall tire?

chrome or black chrome for the finish. all 4 windows will retain the stock stainless trim.

Those are real nice looking wheels! You can't go wrong with chrome. I also looked into black chrome for a different project for wheels and other parts . What I found out is like already mentioned. It is a black tinted transparent powder coat over real chrome. I believe the issues associated with the this particular process it the powder is put on over the slick shiny chrome surface. Then there is regular powder coat in the black chrome "color" it will last fine but doesn't look nearly as good.

I'm not sure your budget... But there are similar Bullitt style wheels available on the cheap. Here's a link if you had any interest. Keep in mind most of the prices are for a set of 4. Bullitt Mustang Wheels I have a few I use for mock ups. They seem nice.

Nice truck! Looks great.

That is the price range I am looking for I would like to keep them under 1500 delivered

Ill have to see if OE has 20s without the little faux bolts around the rim.

these guys have 19s maybe thats the compromise, the 20s are actually cheaper though.

Staggered Chrome Bullitt Mustang Wheel & Mickey Thompson Tire Kit - 19x8.5/10 (05-14 GT, V6) - Free Shipping

here is the 20s, the 20s look a little bling bling but the 19s kind of look right.....
