01 ZF6 cooler
Hi, I'm getting ready to change my transmission oil, and I have had my cooler on the radiator, bypassed at the trans. I would like to reinstall the cooler and would like to know, if a radiators internal transmission cooler is prone to failure? Mainly mixing the coolant and trans oil?
Thanks Artie

Anything is prone to fail but having said that, I haven't heard of anyone having issues. You could always get you a simply aftermarket one and use it instead of going back with the factory set up. I had an aftermarket one with built in cooling fan when my truck was auto. When I converted it over to manual I kept the cooler and used it and added an external filter for the fluid as well. According to the temp gauge before the cooler, it never gets over 150* to 160* on a hot summer day anyways so it shouldn't take much of a cooler if you go this route.
