Question Would teh ECM know the difference...

in a 1988 chassis, if I planted an 1986 motor in the engine bay. Both 302, both Kalifornia truck motors, both 302/AOD's ...

It won't know the difference as long as you don't try to use ANY wiring that comes with the '86 motor. If for any reason the '88 engine harness won't plug into a sensor or device on the '86 motor change that device with one from the '88 motor, DO NOT modify the wiring harness.
