So we've all seen large trailers, boats, and other normal loads for our Super Dutys...BUT what is the strangest and most AWKWARD item you've ever used your truck for?

I need to find a picture of it, but I helped move 10 wooden beams for a gazibo I was helping a friend build. Nothing strange about that..except they were 20' long as well as counterweighted with bags of quickcrete. They extended off the back of my truck almost 13'. Super ghetto.

 

I hauled a bobcat on a bobcat trailer with an e150 van with c load range tires....she pulled fine...stopping was another miracle... all in the name of the job... (company will go nameless)

 

Two goats, 4 ducks, and a 4Wheeler in a 10' utility trailer.

 

nothing weird for me, well maybe...a bunch of commodes...of the used varity.

Haven't towed anything crazy. Only thing I can think of is overloading my '98 Explorer many years ago with as many bags of lime as I could safely get in there. I have no idea what the weight was, other than too much. I probably didn't know any better!

 

The only thing really "awkward" about it was getting into some fuel stops, and definitely getting in and out of hotel parking lots!😀 But I was only 80 feet long. 😀

The strangest 'looking' was towing my four wheeler on a 12 foot utility trailer. I didn't want to take the 5er hitch out, so I pulled it. A HUGE F350 DRW pulling a little trailer. My Chevy friends gave me a lot of grief over it until I used it to pull their camper our if the mud when Chevy sank.

 

Cops never even looked at me sideways! Had two of them pass me in Utah, too!😀😀😀😀😀 I just drove along, minding my own business!

 

Similarly, I used to pull a single ski trailer with a Waverunner on it behind my '99 F-350 CC/LB. The only thing I could see back there were the handle bars.

 

Awkward I'd just have to say furniture. It's like a game of Tetris trying to get everything to fit and be next to something, under something or on top of something that won't damage it. I hate moving people.


I pulled my 8 foot popup behind my old Dodge dually a few times before it got mounted on the big goose. I've also used the big goose to haul the 1000# garden tractor around too. Though I still don't miss it since selling it and buying the dump trailer. The 10 foot dump looks kind of silly behind the dually too, but it makes my life a lot easier so I don't care.

 

Not an awkward load but I've nearly been run off the road a few times by people passing and swerving into my lane. By the way, the truck is not on level ground, overload springs are barely touching, just looks like it's loaded heavy.

I don't have any pictures but when I picked it up from the fence row, the rear wheels where stuck out wide enough that I could only get the tractor on the rear 2/3 s of the bumper pull tilt trailer I was using at the time.

I had no choice but to take as many parts off as I could and strap to the front of the trailer to get a balance on the hitch. I couldn't move the rear wheels in as every thing was seized.

It was a very long slow ride for 150 miles. It's a spooky feeling having vertical hitch pressure.

 

Took out 28' of supporting wall in my house and put this 28', 200 yr old, 700+ lb beam in its place to hold up the 2nd story.

My trailer is 18' long and I had to extend the beam out the back and into the bed of the truck, then haul it right at 50 mi back to the house...

In case you are wondering...me and one other guy installed the beam...

 

I've towed a lot of things. Hauled a Dodge dually with a blown engine back from Wyoming, Loads of hay, mini loader and skid loaders, Snapped off a draw bar pulling a load of gravel ( I pay closer attention the draw bar weight ratings now days)
I haul a hummer from Utah to Chicago and brought a Dodge pickup back to be customized. But this was probably the strangest.
