New Member... 2016 F450 Platinum vibration help!!!!

Hello everyone,

New to the site but not new to ford f series trucks.

Purchased new 2016 450 platinum. Has less than 800 miles on it and has a terrible vibration between 70-80 mph... Already have taken to dealer who stated there was a wheel out of balance and that they fixed the issue. But still present.

Has anyone experienced this issue and if so what was the fix if any.

Thanks in advance
Ray

Thanks for joining Ray, maybe someone can chime in to help out. With a brand new truck, you may want to have the dealer take another look at it for yah.

same problem!

Mine has the same problem. 2016 F450 continental tires. Vibration since it pulled off the lot. Now I have 7000 miles. Seems to be I. The rear. I feel it in the seats and floor. The steering wheel Is OK. No vibration there. I have not taken it to the dealer yet but.i have had my rear tires balanced. They were slightly off but the vibration has not changed

Same issues

Exact same as my truck. There has to be more than these 3 trucks with same issues. No vibration in steering wheel, feels to all be in rear, and all tires have been road force balanced.

Tire shop says it's the stiff suspension when the truck is unloaded. But I get the video ration when pulling a gooseneck also. Plus I had a 2010 F450 with the 19.5 continental without the vibration. I don't really want to start the run around with the dealer. I need to use my truck

Only other thing I know to try is to take it to a driveline shop and get driveshaft re balanced. I'm going to try that this week I will let you know if that works. Really hoping someone had already found the fix.

Yes. That's a good idea. I thought about that also. I did get under the truck and check for loose u joints and or missing drives haft weights but everything appeared to be intact just by my basic visual inspection. Let me know what you find

I took delivery of my new 2016 F450 2 weeks ago. I have 300 miles on it and no vibration at all, even at 80 mph.

The truck tires have been balanced 3 times and the I finally found a dealer who would attempt to help me. The dealer took the truck to an independent tire shop for road force balancing. It came back after road force balancing with no change. It was sent back and 2 tires were replaced. No change. It is going back today for more work. Hopefully 2 more tires will solve the problem

Well the dealer took the truck to a local tire shop and it was road force balanced and 6 tires were replaced. This seems to have solved the problem. However the tire shop destroyed my wheels so now I am having to take care of that with the dealer. So the tires were my problem all along

I just purchased 2 sets of "Tru Balance" wheel centering sleeves. I'm going to install these and send an update. Apparently they eliminate many vibration issues associated with the 19.5 tires due to off center mounting because of the tolerances between the wheel hub, wheel studs and their holes

Hello everyone.... Sorry for delay with an update... But my issue has not changed one bit. The dealer has had my truck a total of 6 separate times and for a total of 3 weeks and still has the same issue.

They have made a ton of BS excuses, from it's normal, it's the stiff suspension. and then the biggie... The truck was delivered with one wheel (left front) that had hammer on weights, they said that the truck was supposed to have only stick on weights which they stick on the inside of the rim... meaning where the air is. So they replaced that marred wheel and used stick on weights. No change. so they immediately say that it isn't supposed to have stick on weights but rather hammer on weights. I have yet to allow them to put these on my rims. I did ask them to take the wheels off of another truck (new 2016 f450 with same wheels but all hammer on weights) and put on mine and lets test drive it. If it resolves the issue then I will entertain the hammer on deal. They declined. They had said that it was because it was empty, so I offered to load it with a 3300lb pallet and they declined. I am at a loss here as this is a pretty expensive truck that I really can't drive on the highway unless I want to vibrate down the road. The truck is about 6 months old and has 2000 miles on it because of this issue... I simply let it sit in the driveway.

? for 79pace,

When you stated that they replaced the tires and that corrected the issue, was it the same tire?

Any help is appreciated

Thanks
Ray

? for 79pace,

When you stated that they replaced the tires and that corrected the issue, was it the same tire?

Yes they replaced all 6 with 6 identical Continental tires. The dealer had to send it to a local tire shop to have the work done. The road force numbers came back very high. I did take a test drive before I sent it back because of the wheel damage and it drove great. I hope it will be even better with the Tru Balance inserts.
I have heard all of the same BS excuses from the dealer as well. They even tried the stick on weights for my wheels. From the factory the F450 is delivered with hammer on type wheel weights. They are the TAL version which have a wider opening and different radius to work with the aluminum rims. Most shops do not have these or even know about them. The F450 comes from the factory with hammer on weights on the outside edge on the front and the inside edge on the rear. Your first step would be to insist that they road force balance the wheels. Most likely high readings will occur because of your vibration issues. Then they can rotate the tire on the rim to get the best match of high spot on tires to low spot on the rims it is difficult to get this done because it takes some manual labor. If that does not correct the issue then the only other solution is tire replacement. I would highly suggest the Tru Balance inserts. I will post an update once I install mine. I really feel your pain. My truck has been gone for 3 weeks. I just want it to be right and I am sure you do as well

Thanks
Robert
