Finding a used Super Duty in NC...

Hey all!

I'm looking to replace my '94 E-150 with a 7.3 or 6.0 F-250 or F-350, but honestly, I'm hoping there are some local members who can help me out. Craigslist and Autotrader both seem a little iffy.

Does anyone know of any leads on good, stock-ish trucks that fit that description? I'm located in Hillsborough, but willing to go all over the state for the right one.

When we were looking for my wife's car we used auto trader to search, alot of the dealers listed a carfax for them. You can also narrow down by color and year also price. I've also heard alot of people using car max.

Carmax doesn't seem to have a great selection of SDs, and their prices seem to be off this planet.

Is a 10-year old F-250 really a $20K truck these days?

The 7.3s in super duty that I'm seeing are still in the $10-15k range for theost part that I'm seeing.

Hell my 95 7.3 books for like $5500.

I got my 2011 F150 from Carmax, and got a great deal, almost $3000 under book, and the price includes title, registration, tax's, and tags, hellofadeal

I've bought from Carmax before. When I got the TJ there, it came with all maintainance, tires, brakes and a new soft top. Plus some other items fixed that were needed. All I really had to do was drive it, which was nice.

The Nissan I had, came from a rock lot, and needed everything that you could see, plus a whole lot that you couldn't. It ended up costing more than I expected every month and was just a huge pain, and certainly not what I would call a reliable vehicle.

Craigslist has some deals, just have to know what you are looking at, and be able to read the person selling it, and be patient, because a good condition vehicle isn't the easiest thing to find there.

I also watch other classifieds when I look:
4042.com (Smithfield\Benson\Garner area I think) and
WRAL.com Classifieds - Free Car, Home, Pet and Job Listings for Raleigh, Durham, and Cary

Good luck, and if we can help let us know. Hope to see you at one of our chapter dinners.
