Question outside air temperature sensor in mirror

I'm told that the outside air temperature sensor is in the passenger side mirror, how do you get to the thing?? Mine reads -45 when I start the truck and slowly gets to the actual temperature outside after about an hour. I purchased a new sensor at the dealer and I looked at the exploded view of the mirror at the counter and online and its not much help, the lines point to the bottom of the mirror assembly but I have no idea how I can access it. Don't want to start prying on things as I'm afraid I'm going to break something and end up having to buy a whole new power mirror

The large mirror will pop off its mount. There is a kind of socket and ball arrangement in the center of the mirror back, however, it is very scary getting it off. I popped one off my F150 and never did get it to pop back on; it's still sitting in a box in the basement in two parts. One of these days I might give assembly another try...
