David - There won't have been any significant damage to this point. If, and there's a BIG if, the GL-5 stuff isn't proper then it is just a matter of degrees. I will research it more, but from what I've read to this point the 4 has less of the stuff that, over a long time, may degrade the bronze synchros. So, if it were mine I wouldn't do anything immediately and do some more reading.
As for the reading, so far I've not found anything official. The vast majority of what I've found is people like us talking about it. I did find one research paper a guy wrote, but there's nothing saying what credentials he has. So, if anyone has good info please let me know.

Just an update: Now, 2+ years later, the transmission still shifts very well with no noises.
