Not to be a jerk or start anything but a transmission cooler is a lot less expensive than bulletpeoofing a 6.0. Yes I have a 7.3l so I am biased but the reason I wanted and waited for a 7.3 is because my son is a mechanic at a ford dealership and 6.0's come in a lot more than 7.3's. He said with 6.0's it is a crap shoot on if you get a good one or one that needs a lot of work to make it reliable. Yes 7.3's have downs too but for me it made more sense to go with the 7.3. But that is just me, everyone has their own wants and opinions. At the end of the day we all have excursions 7.3, 6.0, or V10.........even the 5.4's. So I am very thankful to have this forum with such a great group of people.

But 7.3's are still the best Sorry I couldn't resist............

Everyone has what they prefer, and that's the beauty of the excursion.... All the motors bring something to the table, there's plenty here that wouldn't even consider a diesel. It's all good I'm just giving Andy a hard time.

Naw...just deleted it...I'd say I'd rather have an EGR cooler than the new dpf systems.

The three most popular choices for V-10 long tube headers are Hedmans, Thorleys and Banks.
Hedmans have a known issue with their ball socket expanding over time, they made a design change to fix it but the issue still continues. Forum member have24wheel had them crack on his rig, he also had the ball socket joint problems too.
Thorleys seems to make them in batches, so they are not always available, they were not when I was shopping for mine. Most Thorleys are painted which will require cleaning and reprinting to ensure the longest service lift, I have seen some with the ceramic coating which would be a much better option if you can get them.
Banks are stainless steel and are also more expensive. But from my own experience they seem to be very high quality and well made. The kit comes with several heat shields to protect various other parts like the starter, sway bar end link and wiring harness.
I know that both the Hedmans and Banks come with their own Y pipe and I'm pretty sure that Thorley also includes one too but I'm not positive.
Piping wise, the factory exhaust is well designed and a good size for the motor, of course a freer flowing muffler would be a good addition, but the V-10 will never sound like a V-8.

Found some headman 89660 I see the ball and socket issue and design need for update but I'm sure it will be fine over time I can deal with it.
If I had my 05 EB that i want I could see sticking the money into the exhaust but I have a 00 with 171k on it and rust chasing me!

Can you confirm that # anyone? is there a superseded edition?

Thanks guys
