Platinum vs loaded Lariat

I'm just not a fan of the Platinum badging and there are a few things like the 20" wheels that I don't really want, but I do like all the electronics and comfort options that come standard on the Platinum.

It looks to me like the only thing you can't option up on the Lariat to get it to Platinum level is the multi-contour seats. Is there anything else that I'm overlooking? I think I could save $3000 or so depending on which features I decide I can do without.

I looked at the same scenario, The problem with going with the loaded Lariat vs the Platinum is that when you go to sell it again you will not get back the extra money spent on the loaded Lariat, the trade in guides simply don't add for those expensive add-on's on the Lariat, they do add for the Platinum though because most of it is standard on it. Not a issue if you are keeping the truck for many years.

Thanks to both.

I'm sure that Ford knows it's customers better than I do, but the badging they do on the Platinum and now the Limited is a bit much for someone like me.

In an ideal world, I could get the exterior from an XL, the interior from a Platinum, the leather from the King Ranch/Limited, the column shift/center console combo from the XL, all with the capability of a Raptor.

I guess people with my taste aren't really on Ford's radar.

I'd like that build. Leather seats without the tech. I greatly pref the column shifter on these.

2015 XL Super/Crew Cab 40/20/40 front seat. Fold the 20's backrest down, there's no console, all you get is two cup holders and a place to lay your cell phone flat. The 40's seats cannot be raised, either.

Prior to current 2015 XLT, I had a 2011 F150 Lariat 5.0L 2WD Super Crew. MSRP was $39,990.00 including Lariat Plus Package, heated/cooled leather seats (seating surface is leather, everything else is vinyl), 7700 lbs. payload package. The 2015 version will cost you at least 5 grand more!

The front captain's chairs were as hard as a rock with very little padding, causing that old US military officers malady: MBS (Major Butt Sore) after driving for several hours.

I prefer the Lariat myself.
So all of my trucks are just a Lariat with a few options added like GPS etc.

Could be the XLT then - either way, what I'd like to be able to spec on the Lariat is a column shift with center console arrangement like this or like on the Super Duties -

Definitely not for me! That kind of center console forces my right knee to stay in an upright position, which after about an hour is very painful. Which definitely limits what I can buy, in trucks and (especially) cars. It's very hard to find a car without a console that forces your right knee into that upright position.

I prefer the flip up console seat that allows 3 across seating in the front.
So much more comfortable I find.
It is partly because I am tall and have long legs.
So the console bothers my right leg.

Could do like I did. The only thing that I wanted from the Lariat trim level was the leather seats, but the price differential was ~~ $6,000.

So we ordered an XLT, and the dealer had a local shop add leather seats for $950. Deal!

Plus we got the leather in a color that matched the exterior (Silver) instead of the only choice from Ford (black).

I've had the flow through console, and I really prefer the column shift and front bench seat.
Last generation you could spec out a lariat with column shift and a 40/console/40 seat that WASN"T a flow-through console and was also different from the 40/20/40 setup. I got to ride in one, it was awesome. I don't think it was a popular option.

Last year my buddy bought a 2014 Plat and I've gotta say that she is one beautiful truck but, you still get the painted bumpers and for me that's a deal breaker. I've seen so many Plats and KR's with the dreaded pitted front bumper from highway debris and such.

If I were in the market for those options, I'd spec a lariat to it's highest level. You won't get the factory power running boards but they can be had aftermarket and may very well hold up better anyway.
