2004 4.6 125,000 miles. Every now and then the engine just stalls for no apparent reason. Always starts right back up. Idles smooth, drives great. I will pull codes tomorrow but the check engine light isn't on. Any body have this problem before?
Just hooked up the code reader,no codes stored in the computer(of course, lol). Where is the schreader valve to check fuel pressure? does this engine have one? I looked for a minute on the fuel rails, couldn't find it.
OK just finished looking EVERYWHERE for the shcrader valve...doesn't have one. Does anybody know when ford stopped putting the valve on the fuel rail? Is there another way to test fuel pressure that isn't too terribly expensive?
Ok. update: I drove the explorer today for about 30 minutes, and the only time I could get the stalling problem to repeat itself was when I had the cruise set at 35-40 and pushed the coast button,it would die around 33-35 mph. When it stalls, it shuts off just like the key was turned off,no stumbling or anything. It will not die at the same speeds without the cruise set. Damned thing runs great otherwise. We have owned it for 2 months and put 6,000 miles on it in without a problem. Any ideas?
