An interesting '56 AWD 10-wheeler Big Job

Saw this in the Boston Craigslist listings. Just sharing in case anyone didn't know about the AWD 10-wheelers. I didn't until this came along.

Neat truck with a neat history.

Question, I wonder why this Big Job doesn't have the hood scoop?

because its a T-700. I was under the impression only F or T 800 and larger had the scoop.
I'm wondering if its really a 302 and not the 332 and the scoop only came on 332 4 V

Interesting. I thought any 1956 Big Job got the scoops.

Is this technically a Big Job? It has the same 6 X 8.75" wheels/hubs as the F-600. I thought the Big Jobs all had the 8 X 10" pattern, or Daytons. Clearly the Coleman modifications and twin screw make it every bit a match for the bigger models. Stu

Answered my own question. The Chassis Catalog says the F-700 (Z series) could be fitted with the 6 lug x 8.75" components in the tandem axle configuration. It is listed as a Big Job. Stu

It has the Big Job hood side emblems on instead of the F-100 to F-600 hood emblems.

Yeah, did see that. But that's not hard to change on a truck. The Chassis Catalog convinced me it's a Big Job. Thx. Stu

What a tough looking truck!
And it spent most of its life down here in New Mexico....cool

I sure wish I had that kind of money laying around. That is really cool!

Can't imagine anyone but a hardcore collector paying anything close to 28k

Always found it curious that left coasters call tandems 10 wheelers. Get looked at funny if you called a truck a 10 wheeler in the midwest

I was a fleet mechanic, PACCAR R&D test driver, truck driver, and I've known many truckers. The people I know all call them tandems, three axles, or twin screws (from the Timken SHDD's). You would get the jaundiced eye if you referred to them as 10-wheelers. Hardly anyone on the West Coast does that - that I know of anyway.

Anyone else suddenly have Eddie Money's "I think I'm in Love" in their head?!

Love those Firestone Super All Tractions too. I like them so much I bought myself a NOS set of 9.00X20s for when my current cracked 7.50X20s give out.
