So yesterday I went to the top of my property to drop off some brush, on the way back I took a shortcut through an old Creek bed(dry). When I was climbing the other side the truck died, no biggie cranked it back up and it wouldn't fire. left the ignition on for maybe 5 seconds and POOF magic smoke. I killed the power and lifted the hood and found this Lil guy torched.


So I twisted it back up and tried again. Wire super heated and melted right through the copper. So trying to figure out is the 20A fuseable link fried or the relay. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The fusible link is just doing its job, protecting the harness and components.
It *could* be the relay, but more likely whatever the relay is feeding.

 

your preinstalled smoke came out. the smoke was installed at the factory and sometimes it leaks out and has to be reinstalled. napa sells the reinstall kit as well as the blinker fluid and muffler bearings and 710 caps.

 

Trace for a dead short!
