Oil Consumption Source Study

An interesting in depth look at different sources of responsibility for spark ignited gasoline engine oil consumption.

One section of the study suggests trying a lower NOACK % evaporation lube if we are having consumption problems. That is just what I'm doing on 3 family vehicles that suddenly began using oil as soon as API SN/GF-5 lube went in.
SO, if any reading this post had consumption suddenly show up, have a look on the PQIA web site for your lubes VOA NOACK figure & if 15% there abouts, look for one with a lower NOACK & see how it goes. I've cut my consumption 2/3 by selecting a lower NOACK lube in the same viscosity range.
