I'm a environmental remediation technician.....
I run/operate/maintain/repair remediation systems on MCAS cherry point. Basically I gauge a bunch of groundwells monitoring JP5 in the ground water. I also maintain, clean and repair down well total fluid pumps that pump water and fuel back to systems that have Oil/water separators.

I had 27 years with GE in Hickory, NC. They moved the plant to Mexico. It was almost completely closed by the end of 96, but the union worked out a deal with the company to let 30 of us that would turn 50 the next year to work till Feb. of 97. That let me retire with my full pension. Was actually 49 when I got my first check. Worked another 5 years at my neighbors business and retired completely Feb. 2002. So I'm one of the retired, retired old guys...lol
thats cool they kept it open long enough for yall to get the full pension...

They let the thirty of us do clean up till Feb. Everyone else (except maintenance) were gone before the end of 96.

Tony, it's great they did that for you to get that pension. I've never heard much about unions in NC. I did some work for one of the GE entities a few years ago. I'm glad to hear of a corporation treating people well. It's not something that makes the news lately.
Larry, that kinda makes me want to drink bottled water from now on.

My Dr. appointment went pretty good this afternoon. My stomach and lower unit finally called a truce about 11pm yesterday. Still kind of noisy but I do feel better.
He liked the weight that I lost (30 pounds so far), and my blood pressure was good, he thinks I can get off of some of my medications that I'm taking daily. Hopefully lose the pills for the high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. That will get half of my morning pills out of my face.
We have officially started getting some lights up in trees for our Christmas Light Show. It takes is 4-5 day's to get trees wrapped, and other things set up and anchored down into the yard.
Our second controller showed up this last week from Christmas Lights Set to Music | WowLights so we'll have two controllers/32 programmable channels, and if we can get all of the lights that we have, it'll be at the 10,000 number
If you can't see it from space............your not doing it right!

Lines break, fuel spills, and it use to be acceptable to just dump the contents on the plane you were working on, on the ground. There is literally thousands of gallons in the ground on cherry point alone. Some places as much as 3-5' of fuel on top of the water table.

I don't drink the water on base, if I don't bring it from home, or it don't come to us in a bottle I don't drink it.
