0 MPG, by the gas gauge.

Driving on a very unsmooth patch of pavement my gas gauge went from 3/4s to below empty and the check engine light came on with the code P0643 and hasn't moved off of empty after burning some of that gas and refilling and bouncing around on the farm. Did my fuel level senator unit completely die or is there something like a broken wire I should look for???? I don't have enough time to drop the tank to replace the sender unit at this time of year I'm in the field, farming and it's going to suck not having the fuel gauge working as I can burn a ton of fuel pulling wagons and stuff and require refilling almost daily or use almost no fuel at random intervals....

Give the tank a good kick and see if it starts working. I coaxed mine back to life like this for over a year once. You likely will need a sensor in the future. It's really not hard to replace.

bad fuel sensor
broken wire
shorted wire
bad dash gauge.

fix it.. or carry more fuel in cans.

there is always time to do something TWICE.. but never time to do it Right. my opinion

I replaced Dads fuel pump assembly on his 00 when the pump quit and would assume and hope it would be as easy to do on mine, i'm fairly certain that sender is the problem now as after driving without a gauge and filling every 150 miles (just to be safe on fuel) the fuel gauge will start working for a short time around 3/4s of a tank. I dumped and a can of seafoam on the current tank of gas with no expectations of it helping and so far it hasn't, if there's any miracle cleaners that can fix it that would be awesome but pretty much planning on replacing the unit and incredibly annoyed at the timing ....... Dads fuel pump had the consideration to die when we had nothing better to work on.

Sounds like a new pump is in your future. I think part of the issue is Ethanol based fuels. They sure do not help. If it doesn't start you may try and tap the tank with a rubber mallet to see if that gets you home.
