Lightbulb Grounds and things.......

I've been seeing TSBs for ground issues because of painted up contact points on some of the newer cars, so I checked out my 02 E150 and 2010 Fusion ground points and both of them were painted up pretty good too. So long story short, two fresh Motorcraft Batteries and cleaning the paint off the ground points on both of them and they have never run better or smoother, even the Trans shifts better in the Fusion..............

Striving for paint-free ground connections is great---just be advised there's another side to this, namely unprotected bare metal. Ideally you'd establish a solid ground connection that's permanent and then completely encapsulate the connection at the body/frame with a rust/corrosion inhibiting compound or material.

The manuals used to suggest vaseline or grease. NO-OX-ID is another commercial product that is supposed to be conductive as well.

I used Dielectric Grease on the Van and Car, I also pulled a lot of Connectors apart and gave them a dab of it. It took me about three hours on each one just cleaning and messing around washing the Engine bays down, Air Filter Boxes, cleaning out the water drains, my coffee breaks, then a long Test Drive so the Computers could Re-Learn, I had a good day.................

Liquid Tape works pretty well for this...
