Starter "clicking"

This is my first vehicle that I had to turn the key and push a button to start. Not to tough to get used to, but, I was wondering, should I still hear the "clicking" after the vehicle has started? Or, should a relay kick off and stop that? Seems to start hard the 2nd time through, as if the battery has been drained by the starter "clicking".

Is the "clicking" coming from the starter or the solenoid?

Hmmm, now that you give me a choice, I would say solenoid.

Check the wire from the button to the solenoid for a break or bare spot possibly grounding out.

OK, I assume that the attached is the solenoid. It "clicks" before starting and then continues to "click" after truck has started. You mention that maybe something is grounding out. Now could it be because the PO has redone the system to be a negative ground and not the original positive ground? I'm guessing that I have quite the chore ahead of me.

That appears to be an electric fuel pump. The clicking is normal.

Welp, I guess I have a lot to learn. But, the clicking is annoying. Thanks!
