Blue Springs question

I have searched and can't find an answer. But, what are blue springs and is it something I need to do/worry about?

Vic, just do it... Its a ford upgrade that increases your fuel pressure, it helps with performance but most of us here did the mod to increase the life of our injectors... So, for $60 just do it. Lol

As above it was a service bulliten I believe as ford found the stock fuel pressure reg. Spring in some cases allowed too low of fuel psi. Allot of us do it as a preventative measure.

60 dollars seems like an easy decision. Is it an easy project? Are there directions here? Thanks to both of you.

Just do it!

Here's the "what it is" and "how to do it" write-up, all in one handy post:

Fuel pressure gauge is the only real way to verify:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post12858548

The blue coloring comes off and the spring will loose some length over time, so unless you have an old and new spring to compare what comes out to, there's not an easy way to tell. And at that point it's open, with a new part right there, so just put the new part in.

Yup, remove it and measure it....but then if you don't have the blue spring in there.... ya gotta do it all over again. Personally, for $60 I would just put one in that way you know. Injectors are about $250 each, plus labor if you have someone do the work.....it's really a no brainer.

Tech Folder

vanthony, if you are asking about what a blue spring is, then I would suggest you need to read up on the tech folder when you get some free time, bud.

This will inform you about many preventative maintenance areas to complete on these 6.ohL.
1) you will have more knowledge about your engine; 2) you will probably have more questions, but at least you will have a background in what your asking about.

Long live your 6.ohL

I did try to search the tech folder before asking the question, but I must have overlooked it. I knew it had to be there. New to diesels with many questions.

Pay real close attention to everything in Stage 2, that's where the Blue Spring is hiding:

Just installed this kit 2 days ago. Easy and only took 30 minutes. Amazon has a good price and includes shipping. Here is the link:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00656SMNK/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Definitely take the time to absorb the info in the tech folder. It has helped me tremendously with my new to me 2006 F-350.
