Fuel Line Routing 1958 F100 223

Please help me find the correct routing for the fuel line on my 1958 F100 223 engine. I am looking for the routing between the carb and the fuel pump. Thank you much for your help.

Barney I found this image in the parts illustrated catalog, hope it helps. I clipped the bottom of the page off but it for a 1957 223.

Thanks. I have seen the line come from the carb and make a big "S" then wrap around the head and drop down the the fuel pump. Not sure why the big "S" up and down but will keep looking for just a photo of the correct routing. I like the looks of your truck by the way!

Hope this helps. These are pictures of my '58 F-100 with 223. The line is all original except where it was cut to install the fuel filter. One is up top, by the carburetor; the other, along the side of the engine to the fuel pump.

WOW... Thanks much. I appreciate the photos. You guys are great!
The reason I am replacing the lines is because I keep having problems with fuel pumps. The first one started leaking after a few hundred miles, so I figured bad pump and replaced... second is doing the same thing. I know there are 2 different pumps, one for electric wipers and one for vacuum and I have double checked that. Might be just bad luck, but this time I will replace the lines as well.
Thanks again!

It shouldn't make a difference which pump you have. The only difference between them is the vacuum wiper pump has a booster section for the vacuum line to the wipers. If you look at the lower photo, you can just see the blocked off ports on my pump. I switched to electric wipers and haven't changed the pump yet. Where are the pumps leaking? I would also check the flexible hose from the chassis to the pump. That's a very common place for a leak, especially after you've disturbed it during a fuel pump replacement.

Thanks Lou. I will replace the hose again. It is leaking on the bottom of the pump. We tried tightening it and now I will replace the hose just to make sure that is not the problem.

Does it still have the braided hose with fittings or have you fitted a piece of regular hose with barbed ends and hose clamps. If it has the braided, get rid of it. There is also another piece at the fuel tank. Also check the flare fitting for the output to the carburetor. It doesn't take much wrong to make one of those leak.

I have replaced the braided hose once, but I think you are right and will get a new hose this week. Thanks for the good advice and I will get on it.
