I love to watch odometers flip over to significant and/or cool numbers. And it's so much more meaningful with physical spinning numbers that you can watch as they roll into place. (My '02 E150 and my '91 BMW still have the old style....digital is so much less fun.)

Congrats, that's the way to get your money's worth out of a vehicle.

I know...his spark plug change cycles run longer than that. But for me, anything over 200k is pretty amazing...I usually get bored with a vehicle (or have it start rotting away in Michigan) before that.

Thumbs up long life

At work, our vehicles are sold off at between 600,000 and 750,000 miles...about 5 to 6 years old..and are about half way thru the normal life-cycle.

Of course, those are class 8 semi-truck tractors...

I'm not touching the tranny fluid. An old mechanic told me that tranny's are a living thing and don't appreciate change. As long as it's not brown, leave it alone...

My van has the rust, third set of doors now after it was in an accident in '09. The paint is bubbling. the rockers are rusted and covered up by "pony" boards from a conversion van. I've had a few spark plugs spit out , the tranny tail housing cracked last winter and leaked. (extreme cold or '09 accident?)

Keeps on chugging along and my wife prefers it to her Mariner. (I put in aftermarket heated seat pads!)

If I could get it to run on after turning off the key along with smoke and a backfire, I'd change my user name to "Uncle Buck"!!-- (DelGriffith)

I'm in the big truck glass biz, still working on rigs with 1.5 Million miles----and climbing, still racking up the highway or container pulling mileage. More than a few Freightliner FLD's, KW T600's----a few of those approaching 15 years old.

Working on one of those "vintage" trucks you learn where the song "Shake, Rattle & Roll" probably originated!

Once we 'deservice' a truck, it goes into the used truck market, and normally gets put into service as a farm truck, grain hauler, belly dump, class 8 wrecker, container hauler, or some other local or regional use, and can easily see 1.5 million miles after several years.

Just FYI: Our drive tires, just one set, can easily go 250,000 miles..about 2-3 years in regional service. A set of steers will go 100,000 sometimes, depending on alignment. We go 40,000 miles between oil drain intervals....thats about 10 gallons of oil per change, not just 4 or 5 quarts...

Yeah....class 8 trucks are just a bit heavier duty than say, your average family sedan....

If things stay the same, my 06 E350 should see that in about 2 years. 36K a year and sitting at 255K as of today.

Indiana Jones may have said that it's not the years, but the mileage; in my experience, it's the reverse :-p
