I don't want to sound like the old guy in the room, but if you are waiting to buy good parts until you get your tax return, you may want to consider not dumping thousands into these upgrades. A few years from now you will look back and say "holy ****, I spent how much on this"? I wasted tons of money doing things like this, and I enjoyed it, but the older wiser me would have been much better off to have just left well enough alone and invested even a small portion of that money.
P.S. Adjust your withholding so you aren't getting a whole lot of money back, you are basically floating the government a 0 interest loan. Old guy out.
