Wiring help and underhood fusebox ideas
Hello all,
I'm working on the '73 F250 in my sig. I'm not very skilled when it comes to electrical work and I don't want to hack things. First up is I'm wiring a 7-way trailer connector with brakes. I need to tap into the brake light switch at the pedal, what is the cleanest way to do this? I was thinking of sticking a blade connector in the existing connector or adding a plug pigtail.
Also in the future I will (hopefully) be doing a 3G alternator swap and adding relays to keep my headlights from shutting off. I'm looking for suggestions on a junkyard or aftermarket fuseblock that will accomodate the circiut breaker for the trailer brake, the 100 amp fuse for the 3g swap and the relays for the headlights.
Thanks in advance

If you want to keep the factory connector on the brake pedal switch, you can go ahead and cut the the wire several inches away and splice in a new wire. Solder the connection and before you do this push a piece of shrink wrap onto the wire and use that to insulate after you have soldered it. Makes a good looking permanent connection. I will warn you, don't put to much strain on the wires to the pedal switch, support them well with a little slack. The switch moves back and forth along with the wiring when the pedal is pushed.
I am not sure where you want to put the 100 amp fuse, are you going to use a 95 amp 3g? Most people use the 130 amp version.
Here's a fuse holder you could use. Most part stores carry small aux fuse boxes you can add.
