Recommend a good "quiet" road tire.. ?

So I'm going to get ahead of things this year, and have a lot of highway driving coming up. As in cross country, no towing just people moving.

Stock 16inch rims, X has General Grabber AT2's that came on it when I bought it. I'm not that big of a fan either way with them but they do start to drone on after a few hours of driving.

Any advice would be great.

I am looking at the Nitto Dura Grapplers as my next set of tires. They are a tuck highway tire that is known to have a low noise level. There are a few here who are already running with them, so hopefully they will share some insight. Here is the webpage for the tire.

Dura Grappler Highway Terrain Light Truck Tire

Its funny, but the first review at the bottom of the page is by an Ex owner.

I run a set of the Nitto Dura Grapplers (mine are 305/70R18E) and they have been treating me pretty well so far, they are the QUIETEST truck tire I have ever had. They are wearing well and even and they regularly handle very high loads when we are trailering without any squirminess at all.

Bingo, what he said. Might pay a little more for them but well worth it IMO.

Can I recommend one of these when you need quiet. Truthfully you can hear the passenger breathing while cruising at a hundred. I like to hear a little extra something something while in my TRUCK. Just my .02

Travis, I am running Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo II 285 x 75-16 . Have been using them for a year and they are the best all around tire that I have owned. Just returned from a trip to Florida pulling a 4x6 cargo trailer, they handled great, are extremely quite, and as an added bonus they also keep you going in the snow. Good luck with your search. Vinny

Another Michelin LTX fan here. I run AT2's on my F-350 work trucks and M&S2's on my Excursion. They're quiet and great on the highway in all kinds of weather.

Another vote for the Firestone Destination tires. My Ex had 315's on it when I bought it, no issues at all.

Michelin LTX. Quiet, good lifetime and at least through Discount Tire when I had a defect on another vehicle was replaced with no problems.
