1992 Ford F-250 5.8 cold air intake??
I just picked up a 92 250 with a 351 and am having a difficult time finding a cold air intake for it. Seems K&N makes one for the f150 but their 250 kit is just a filter that eliminates the air box.
So couple questions...
1: does anyone know why the f150 kit wouldn't fit a 250?
K&N part 57-2542 information
2: If that kit doesn't fit, does anyone know of a company making cold air kits for my truck?

Best CAI for your truck is to grab the snorkel off of a 300 or 460. It goes right up and behind the grill. I yanked off my snorkel on my 302 and swapped one from a 300.
Don't waste your money on hot air intakes like K&N or their junk "High Horsepower" washable filter media.
Plenty of threads on here about Fords best CAI so you many want to search.
I'm sure others will chime in and agree with my statement.

I put a K&N filter in it already but my reasoning behind a cai is more than just performance.
I like the look of them and how they "clean up" the engine bay. As far as opinions on K&N hot air intakes go, to each their own but the snorkel setup isn't something I'm a fan of. I have a K&N hot air intake on my 05 150 and absolutely love it. If some of the more performance driven companies like BBK made intake kits for my 92 I'd be all over it.
Anyways, I appreciate the input on the snorkel out of a 6 banger and will look into it but for now, just curious why, if for any reason that kit wouldn't fit my 250. One theory I've heard was some of the 250s came with a dual battery setup? I'm unsure how accurate that is but trust the source. Any other input??

I have the K and N on my 93. It's just the filter connected to the 2 stock tubes and some brackets. I did have to modify the brackets a little to work on my truck.
I did notice a seat of the pants increase in performance as soon as I got on the gas.
I did the snorkel set up that was also mentioned here on my 92 I used a Fram Air Hog for the filter. I realy didn't notice any increase in performance.

It's your truck and money, do as you please. We were just trying to save you some coin but I understand if you want to clean up the engine bay or think there's gains to be had.
Some 250's (the diesel ones) do have two batteries. Otherwise I can't think of any reason why a kit made for an OBS 250 won't fit an OBS 150. Try it and find out, if you buy from a reputable vendor then you can always send it back if if looks like too much work for you.
What scares me with the K&N or other washable filters is that if you take a clean filter and hold it up, you can see the sun shine right through it! Which means dirt can also get thru at least til it loads up with enough crap that you can't see thru it anymore.

I can bet money you'll feel more seat of a pants difference with the tube from the 460/inline six, I got one for my truck after running with no tube at all for the longest time, cut the baffle out of it and put it on my truck. She rode about the same from 0-60 but 60 and up on a WOT run it had allot more ***** in the top end than without the tube. Just my two cents.
