Help W/power mirrors, overhead console
So I'm tinkering on my new to me 2001 F-250 SD supercab SB, and thanks to the posts here, I have checked the two torx bolts that can cause a loose shift lever. (automatic) Turns out the shift lever and the tube it pins into are just worn out. No biggie, works OK, just prefered it to be more like new (or my old truck)
So the two things that don't work are the power mirrors. Either side, any direction. And the overhead console trip computer (or whatever it is supposed to do)
The fuses are good for both. I find it hard to believe that both side mirrors failed at the same time, all 4 motors. Up, down left right on both sides. I have power going into the switch, and power out at certain movements of the switch, but have no idea what wire feeds what function, if it connects ground circuts, or just hot out. Maybe someone has a switch wiring schematic?
And maybe for the trip wiring connector as well? I'm not sure just what it's supposed to do. But it isn't, and stuff that don't work just nags at me.
Anybody have similar issues? Suggestions? I kinda hate throwing new parts at it unless I have some way to determine fault, or rule out everything else.
Thanks in advance for the suggestions and info!
Joe.

Do a search here, for overhead console repair and look for YouTube videos, as well.

I always said you can tell a fairy tale because it starts with once upon a time, or now this ain't no chit. But, now this aint no chit, I found the problem to be exactly as described in the links you sent, and the amazeing part to me is that I was able to patch it together again. Kinda like Humpty Dumpty!
I found one of the center two chips was missing, hunted it down inside the inner shell, and scrounged a small soldering gun in the shop, made by (can you guess)? Archer. Radio Shack brand. Left to me by my Pops some 30 years ago, and never once used untill today. Drop of solder on the end, touched to each end of the chip for 10 seconds or so, plugged her in and VIOLA!? little green lights.
Don't know how long it will last, but it's working now.
Thank you so much for posting the links for me, and takeing the time to respond so quickly!
One problem down, just the mirrors to fix now.
