Got to give the hood a dose of grinder noise today, in the next day or 2 they get the real thing, fall runting season up here. Once this thing is cut up I get my metal storage area back and my work area gets cleared. Then it's catch up on projects time, it's always catch up on projects time around here lol.

A guy at the swap meet had a bucket of large, albeit dull, large drill bits. He wanted like $5 to $10 per bit. I offered him $40 for the entire bucket of around 30 a bits and he took it. .. then I picked up a Drill Doctor off Amazon. I 'm confident that I'm still ahead.

It's a swap meet strategy.... ask how much for a couple of pieces and the seller will respond. Scratch your head, pause for effect, then shoot them an offer for the entire lot and they'll usually bite since they want to get rid of it all.

If you weren't 5-6 away I'd say bring it by and we could work on it at my shop at work, I've got 6 brand new 7/8 Jacobs chuck bits just sitting in the sleeves in the cabinet.... Plus about any other size you'd need...

I buy at auctions and usually get the tools I need, sure get a lot of tools that I hardly use but don't get rid of. Glad I kept the inch and a half sockets, worked real good at removing hinge bolts from the 450s hydraulic frame, will probably work just as good when I put them back on.
Hope you got your hole reamed 77&79, one size don't really fit all LOL.

Appreciate the offer, if I was closer I would be heading that way.

That sure was a strong garage sale, must have had good stuff or just to damn much stuff lol. Turn down your speed on the drill and let the weight of the drill do the cutting, just keep it wet and let the tools do the work. There cant be much metal coming out so your biggest worry should be keeping the hole centered and straight, or is there something I'm missing such as access.
Buddy came up from Elmonte, he has this snowbird thing backwards. Stopped in to prep for winter and to make sure he had options to spending another winter in Canoe BC. Nice friendly, great place to live,........ in the middle of nowhere in the mountains under 14' of snow. Has a couple of mid seventies Oldsmobiles from his dads estate, ones a convertible the other is a 4 door delta. Dad was a successful mechanic with his own shop and cars are still in good shape. Cars are CA from day one and he doesnt know about smog regs. Dad kept lots of parts, first time buddy went through the parts I told him anything smog related was gold. He was thinking about putting one on the road the next time he goes down. Need to find out if it's better to leave the car in mama's name or not. Told him to put paper on the Delta if it's no hassle and send the convert to Scottsdale for gas money.
