Headliner Woes

The headliner on my 1972 F250 was trashed my mice. I bought one from one of the repro places intending to spray it white like the original. Replacement one is too wide and doesn't have the center hole. Where can I get a white one or at least get the same material and make my own? I know I could just cut a piece of cardboard and stick it in there. I like to keep my stuff as original as possible.

I went to homedepot and got a sheet of white board,I think it's 1/8 of an inch thick and used my old headliner as a template, then I got a spray water bottle and wet the back of the board with the intention that it would soak for 5 minutes and soften a little, then I installed used the chrome trim and screws and tightened slowly all around let it dry and it holds its shape no need for middle screw, hope this helps.

Thanks, mine is soaked with mouse nastiness and curled up at the edges. I doubt I could use it as a template. But it is a good idea.

I used the regular brown 1/8 fibre board from lowes , hit it with 3m spray glue and material . used the old one to trace shape .

Aw a few months have passed and finally, I found a fix for the headliner UGLY NAKED Screw.

Did not want to start a new thread for something that's been talked about before.

Mike, I came across a not so old ambulance at PnP the other day that had all the mounted inner rear shelving that had screws holding it together and all the added accessory like inner door panels that housed all the medical Equipment.

They had these screw button covers on them in my color. And that's all it took for my wondering mine wheels to start turning.

Hmm what could, I use them for.. Then Bingo my headliner screw.
So, I bagged a few. Today I'll go back and get enough to to do my inner door panels screws.

But Mike if, I have a few left over I'll send you one to do your head liner also.

I'll check if the backup alarm is still on it today..
Orich

But need to return today to get a few more.

Success! Took an hour of cussing with two friends helping me. Had to do some major trimming with a small snipper that I usually use for zip ties. We laid the old one on top of the new one to locate and drill the center hole and attached it there first. Held camera sideways to get the whole thing in the pic. It's not show quality, but far better than the original one and it doesn't stink!
