64 f350 rearend
My 1964 f350 grain truck appears to have been loaded too heavy at sometime and the rearend is bowed so the duals lean in at the top. Acording to the warranty tag this truck should have a Dana 70 rearend which is a rearload, but it has what I think is probably a ford 9 inch because it is a frontload. I found casting numbers on the differential(5200 M 533 P). There is a small plate attached and it appears to be(7209). I find this rather strange because I bought this on a farm sale, when the original owner died. It had been stored in the barn for over 20 years and the speedometer showed just over 42,000 miles which his nieghbor told me after I bought the truck were original. Can anyone identify this rearend for sure? Also does anyone have a rearend that they want to sell anywhere close to Illinois or would be willing to ship?

All 1961/66 F350's have 6 lug wheels on a 7.25" bolt circle.
1961/62 F350's could have the Timken model B140 or Dana 70. 1963/66 F350's have Dana 70's.
The current rear axle cannot be a 9 inch. No 9" came with DRW, the largest trucks it was installed in were 1975/86 F150's.
What size are the wheels, how many lug nuts?

64 rearend
6 lugs 7.25 with 16 inch lock ring wheels. When I bought the truck I replaced the brake cylinders and the axle seals and they were theones listed for a 64 f350. As i said in the original post this rearend does not have a removable back cover. The differential unbolts and removes from the front.

Those wheels were only used 1961/66 F350's, 1964/66 F350's only came with Dana (Spicer) 70's.
Likely scenario, your truck could be a 1961/62 with a Timken B140, or it's a 1963/64, the Dana 70 blew, was replaced by the Timken.
Upper: Dana 60/60.3/70 // Center: 9 inch / Lower: Timken B140
There are other Timken's besides the B140 that were used in 1953/60 F350's that also have 6 lug wheels on a 7.25" bolt ciecle.

Must have really overloaded it to need a replacement for a D70 axle. Agree there's not much likelihood it's a Ford 9", unless you can see where all wheel end components were jury rigged to the housing. You might look through the attached web link showing the variety of other axles that yours could possibly be. The 6 x 7.25" pattern was also used by Dodge, IHC, and Studebaker so the axle could be some other manufacturer's version of an Eaton or Timken. If the wheels themselves are hurt we can go over options there too. Stu

If it is a different version of a Dana/Spicer there should be a Bill of Materials (BOM) code stamped into the housing. The attached may help identify it. Stu
