I was expecting pictures of some random rust bubbles under the paint but not that kind of damage! That sucks...
I kind of feel like I'm bragging talking about my truck after seeing that but... I live on a country road and i'm wondering if the massive amount of crushed limestone dust and slime that coats the entire truck most of the time is a effective salt brine protector? I literally only wash the truck a couple times a year and the underside once or twice because it's pointless to try to keep it clean and have virtually no rust compared to yours.... And park outside 95% of the time and drive plenty of salty roads in the winter.
This is more what I was expecting and my Dad's 00 looks almost as good.
I washed the underside of my truck two days ago or you wouldn't be able to see anything but limestone slime.
You really might be on to something. I wash the frame of my 01 f-250 every spring after the last snow. This is the only time that it is ever washed . The rest of the year it stays covered with gravel dust and it looks good for a truck that will be old enough to vote in three more years.
