Side mirrors question

My 1965 F100 long bed has no side mirrors. PO must have done some work to have the location covered up as well. I have a couple questions...

What mirrors were OEM for the year/style truck?

For those that have them, how is the visibility on the "peep" style mirrors? (ones that attach to the top of the door/window frame)

Any recommendations for mirror style for my truck?

Any input or experiences welcome.

I have the round mirrors on my 65, the drivers side is pretty good, the passenger side is useless, I can't get it angled in enough to see anything.

I have the big towing mirrors and it's pretty easy to see with them. They enhance the "old farm truck" look so if you wanna get away from that style then the smaller ones you mentioned would probably be best but the drawback would be less visibility. Here's a picture of mine so you can see the style I have now

Im not 100% sure but I think mirrors were a option and installed at the dealership so your truck could have possibly never had any. Also I think there were a few different styles of mirrors you could choose from

ALL outside mirrors were optional and all were dealer installed. None were factory installed.

wow... Didnt know that. Thanks for pointing me to the post in red up top. And thanks for the pics posted. Sounds like it is up to pure preference. Anybody ever used LMC mirrors? (PN 49-6158)? Leaning towards that style.

The only repro mirror available that fits in the door slots is the chrome mirror with the 5" diameter mirror head, this mirror was optional for all 1955/66's, but are usually seen on F100's.

There's no parts catalog pic of it. Rearward vision is wanting with this mirror which is the same right & left and is available from all the repro parts sellers.

Be aware that unless waxed frequently, this mirror will begin to pit. It's repro'd in China, where the chrome is plated onto bare steel, there's no coat of copper in between.

Thanks... I do not necessarily want HUGE mirrors. Something sleek(er), but do not want to have a unsafe amount of visibility. These round ones kinda resemble the ones on my 67 New Yorker, which offer OK visibility for such a long car. Decisions, decisions.

1967 Chrysler New Yorker is a shade under 220" long. I had a 1960 Crown Imperial that was about the same size.

Both these elephantine behemoths parallel park easily within a city block...if there are no other cars parked there.
