installing headers on my 1996 f250 460. Probably going from headers into a single muffler and outlet. What is a good loud muffler that has good sound without being obnoxious? I like the sound of the cherry bomb extreme muffler on my 5.0...but looking for other options maybe?

 

I VERY MUCH like my Flowmaster 20 series

 

I have dual Flowmaster 10 Series with stock manifolds on my 460, and it is pretty loud. I like the sound, but other people hate it....lol

Here is an old video of mine, but it doesn't pop like that anymore since I fixed the exhaust leaks. And it sounds much better in person.

I'll have to record a new video soon.

 

I ran a pair of Goerlich race mufflers behind my 460. However, my 460 is built pretty well, so that will change the sound over a mostly stock EFI.

do you have a video with sound so I can hear it? aren't the flowmasters louder as the numbers go lower(40 is louder than a 50,etc.)?

 

Sorry, no vid. I dont know what a 10 series is but my 20 series is only single chamber and it barks pretty good but not annoying

 

The 10 Series is the most aggressive muffler that flowmaster makes. It's a single chamber, and it's actually recommended more for the track, because it's so loud. Super 10 Series

Is the 20 Series a discontinued? Because Flowmaster does not have it on their site?

That how it is with most of their mufflers, but not all of them

 

Maybe they renamed the 20. I put it on 15 years ago

 

yeah,there is no 20 series anywhere that I can find..can't even find if it has been renamed either.

Since his is a single chamber it very well could have been renamed to the Series 10, so we might have the same muffler, or at least pretty similar.

 

I have a cherry bomb vortex on mine currently. It sounds great.

my dad has one in his jeep cj-5. its got a baffle that closes under light throttle and the exhaust gasses go through like a normal muffler, stand on it and it opens to straight pipe.
my truck is cammed and has got double rollers rockers (from the build sheet that came with the truck, don't know exact specs).
i will let you guys know how it works out after i get it.

 

SLP Loudmouth Resonators. The original ones not the 2nd gen ones. I like that growl open pipe sound.
