Great thread! Late to the party as usual.

Got a deal on the truck! Bit of rust but seems like you kicked it's bahooky.

The intake connections looked kinda iffy, they sealed up ok? Also seemed like it was a 38R instead of a stocker?

08+ Mirror installed

11pm and finally got the mirrors installed and everything back together... that turned out to be more of a project than I anticipated, I figured about 4 hours and It took me nearly over 8. But I soldered each connection back together and it took me quite a while to fish through the harness and find all the right wires. Im half colorblind so finding the right wires in that mess of color is actually quite difficult for someone like me. I have trouble distinguishing between many a color.

Anyways, step one is remove the door panels which is easy peasy. Two 10mm bolts, one behind the switch housing, and one inside the light cover. Remove those two and the door panel pops straight up then you unhook the door light from the rear and set the panel to the side.

Next remove the speaker to give you more room to get to the wiring.

Once you have unplugged and removed the original mirrors, the Next step is to mount the new mirrors, I believe they are 11mm nuts on there, you will need a deepwell. But before mounting the new ones you have to trim off a small alignment tab. on the back of the new mirrors. I used a dremel with a cut wheel. took 10 seconds.

this is IMPROPERLY wired, the mirrors I got had wiring that did not match the wiring of the truck. Yellow went to Yellow, Red to Red, and then a gray or green "sorry colorblind lol" went to the blue from the truck.

The wiring for the mirrors I got were, White for parking/running lights, blue for turn signal. Black for ground.

There were two wires that looked the same to me, they were either green or gray I had to play with them swapping back and forth before I got all the wiring working properly.

Then once I did that I soldered all the connections together and taped them up.

Fishing the wires through the doors was a tad difficult but I didnt think it was too bad.

I pulled the black boot that goes from the door to the cab loose from the cab. In this picture you can see the boot pulled loose, I then stuck my 1000 lumen flashlight into that hole and from the inside it illuminated the hole, so I was able to just feed the wire right through the hole. Using the light made finding a pathway for the wire very easy.

heres a pic from underneath the dash showing how the light illuminates any areas to feed the wire through.

I then compressed the boot against door and pushed a fish tape through, you can see the end of the fish tape by my finger tip, I just looped the wire in it and pulled it right through.

TA DAAAH, wire through, I then used the first wire taped to the second wire to pull the other wire through.

Repeat same procedure to install the mirror on the passenger side, getting the wire through from the door into the cab on the passenger side was a bit more difficult, but once again using the flashlight method to illuminate the path for the wire helped immensely. This is a pic from the inside of the cab behind the glove box, not much room to get the wire through but you can clearly see right where you want to feed the wire.

And finished product, I spent a lil more to have the smoked lenses with yellow bulbs. I didnt wire up the mirror heaters, ya they are nice but my truck gets parked in the garage, and im moving to Texas by next spring so I really dont need them anyway.
