No Radio, HVAC, Signals, Flashers

Hey all, been a long time since I've been on these forums (under a different username)

Just got an 04 f150 STX 4.6L Regular cab.

Drove fine for a few months (she's a little rough, but she does the trick).

The other day, I went out to go to work, truck would start and run, won't come out of park. Both turn signal indicators on the dash are illuminated, turn signals, flashers, radio and Climate controls do not work.

Currently driving with the emergency shifter release pulled out and zip tied open. First thought was interlock switch, but I'm not sure if that would affect everything else.

This happened once before, and I pulled all the taillights and checked all fuses, then it just seemed to work again after flipping the rheostat for the interior/dash lights. didn't work this time around.

Dash is all torn apart- any suggestions on where to start looking? Anyone had this issue?

Thanks in advance,
Andrew

Check the fuses for all of those functions, they're listed in the owner's manual (see below if you don't have one).

How did you check them?

Continuity tester leads across the contact of each fuse with them in their holders. - is there another way (other than visual, which I can do if required!)

Probably need to check and see if they're HOT when they're supposed to.

Turn ignition to RUN.
Negative voltmeter lead to good ground.
Positive lead to both test points on the top of each of the following fuses in the underdash fuse box. All should read battery voltage.

F1, F2, F5, F7, F13, F14, F15, F18, F22, F31, F116

If all check good, remove the right (do first) and the left A-pillar kick panels and inspect all the grounding studs.

Let's see where that takes us.

Will do. We're talking about the fuse panel under the right side kick panel, not under hood, right?

Right on. It's disgustingly hot out today, so I'll hopefully be able to report back on this tomorrow evening. Talk soon.

Ok.

No power on either side of 7 (fuse tests good still), no fuse in 22.

The rest are good, ign on run, power at both test poles of fuse. Looking up what these fuses are now. Whats next?

Edit: fuse 7 is radio. Makes sense- its not working. Fuse 22 is fancy stuff I don't have, power locks and moonroof and delayed radio shutdown and such.

Ok: edited this update to make more sense after driving home:

Turn HVAC to Off, headlights off - radio and signals and flashers work
Turn HVAC on, headlights on or off - radio and signals and flashers don't work
Turn flashers on (HVAC and Headlights off), radio display flickers
Turn headlights on, (HVAC off) - signals don't work
Turn signals on (HVAC and Headlights off) radio might flicker

Radio flickering may have to do with nearly killing the battery while working on it tonight.

By HVAC not working I mean blower doesn't blow. I can hear the actuator when you I change modes.

Still no power at fuse 7.

I'm more lost than at the beginning. Headlight switch? Turn stalk?

F7 is supposed to be in HOT in START only.

You have the symptoms of a bad ground. Did you check them as advised?

F7 is not hot in run. I must have misunderstood your post, I thought you wanted grounds checked only if all the fuses you mentioned had come back with power. I'll check grounds tonight.

Thanks again,

Finally got around to this!

I put the socket on the bolt for the ground and it came out with a big chunk of rust.... Made up new grounds, everything works now.

Thanks for your help!
