2004Ford F250 6.0 Powerstroke Problems
Hi there I was wondering if somebody here are mechanics would help me with my truck, I have a 2004 Ford F-250 6.0 power stroke, the previous owner got water in the tank, rusted the injectors, and destroyed the pump, I changed the pump and 2 injectors, it still died. It has 300K miles on, pretty high. Right now all septom is the motor is starving for fuel, because the injectors are leaking, getting air in it. When I pull the fuel filter out, it is full of dirt,And swolen up because of water. So, I am planning to flush the tank, get rid of the water and then replace the injectors. I just want to ask anybody knows mechanics, or had similar problems, could there be any damage on the motor ? Engine problems? What I am gonna do? Please, somebody help me fix this damn thing ... I know 6.0 is a bad design, but apart from getting rid of it, how could I fix i???? any suggestions?? please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would worry that a small amount of water got in a cyl or two and rusted up a cyl wall, or more. Pull the injectors and see if there is any rust on the tips, for starters.
I don't know how you will get all the water out of the fuel passeges in the head without pulling them. maybe set up a pump to flush some fuel conditioner through them before the injectors are pulled? Another thing to consider is if the injectors are rusted at all they might not be good cores if you buy rebuilt.
Be prepared. You might need a new engine. Unless you can do the work yourself it might not be worth fixing.

I would start with the basics of a compression test. If you have good compression, spray the cylinders with oil and pull all of the injectors. Unhook all of the fuel lines and blow them out. Remove the plugs on the back of the heads and blow out the fuel rails. New or good rebuilt parts back in and you won't have to do it again for a long time. The 6.0 is good but some of the original parts like head bolts and egr cooler were not good. Those can be upgraded and you have a good motor. Keep with us and we can guide you along. Some fun wrenching ahead of you.
