Please Help! New to Forum 1957 f-100 issues

Traded out the three speed tranny in our y block 272 with a 58 6 cylinder rebuilt tranny. Now engine acts like its starving ( not in idle or full throttle...but somewhere in the middle mostly) and the distributor is screaming. Any insight?

You changed out motor and tranny? You could maybe give a few more details.

We only traded out the tranny. It came for a 6 cylinder truck. Is it possible there is a gearing difference that is throwing things off?

Staying with a three speed it dosen't seem that it should change thinds that much. What do you mean about dist. screaming?
