Trailer plug angle - truck side

My 2011 F350 has the truck side 7 pin trailer plug set so that it faces the trailer hitch (instead of pointing out towards the back like the plug on my 2006 F350).

It's a pain to plug stuff in sideways. I use one of those plug in utility lights which doesn't work well since it's pointing sideways.

I searched to see if anyone sells a 90 degree adaptor, but couldn't find anything.

Just wanted to check to see if anyone in here has something like that.

Are you taking about the in bed plug or the plug at the receiver below the bumper.

If you are taking about the receiver one then is must have been bent. Mine is the same as your 2006.

This shows my plug with my little backup utility light plugged into it. The shiny stuff to the right is aluminum foil backing I put in there to try to reflect more of the light out to the rear.

This is a 2011 F350 that was converted to an Excursion by a company that does them. It may be that this trailer plug is also from the Excursion.

Yeah,

that is not a factory SD hitch.

So that hitch and its rating are going to be that of an excursion.

I would fab a trailer plug bracket and face it like mine.

I don't know of anything else you could do to make that mess work.

What were they thinking!

Yep, that's the EXcursion factory hitch, the rear frame sections are a different shape so the SD hitch doesn't fit.

If it were me I'd make a 6'-8' or even 20' for that matter, pigtail with 7 way truck and trailer ends with only the black (+) and white (-) terminals used.

That way you can put that light in an area that is more useful depending on the task at hand.

Thanks for the replies. That little utility light is just a spare that I was using on my plow truck. I hard wired some back up lights onto my plow truck, so figured I would just stick this little light on my regular truck. If there was an off the shelf 90 degree elbow, I'd get it; otherwise not worth the effort.
