new to the forum with a fuel tank question
Hi everyone. New to the forum here. Recently bought a 68 F-250 Camper Special from a Landscaper. Pretty beat up when I bought but am bringing her back to life. The truck has a fuel tank between the frame rails under the bed and no tank in the cab. when I fill the tank to the point where the station pump clicks off the fuel gage doesn't rise above 3/4 full. I suspect the tank is full and I have a sender or gage problem. What is the tank capacity?

To test the gauge you can ground the sender wire for a few secs. that should pin it to the full mark.
May have a bad float or a bad sending unit.

Optional factory installed 25 gallon auxiliary fuel tank located on the inside of the left frame rail.
1967/69: Fuel filler tube/exposed fuel cap located on the left (drivers) side of the bed above the scallop (Bumpside) line in front of the left rear wheel.
Inside the bed is a shield that protects the fuel filler tube from possible cargo damage.
Located on the floor next to the drivers side of the seat is a manually operated fuel tank selector valve (9189 in pic).
Under the dash to the left of the steering column is the switch that changes the tanks from one to another (9A050 in pic).
ALL 1967/72 F100/350's came with an in-cab fuel tank except for 1969/72's that had the optional factory installed in-cab tool compartment.
When this was installed, the optional auxiliary tank became a mandatory order for an obvious reason.

It is prolly the float. After years of service they sometimes get a pinhole in them. Fuel seeps in and weighs them down a tad. So they no longer float on top of the fuel. Get it out and shake it. If you feel fuel inside it call your local Ford dealer. The float is still available. Part number C0AZ9202B.
