Need help!

Just pulled into campground pulling 5ver transmission started pouring fluid from inspection plate. Only does when running but it's a gusher. Fluid is nice and red and didn't smell burnt. What should I expect when I have towed to shop? So much for nice weekend away.....:/

^^^what he said. If you did a lot of backing and juking around to get it in place, crank it in the morning and see if it leaks. Mine puked like that a couple years ago and has been fine since.I have towed heavy several times since then. Like a jackass, i decided it would be a good idea to pull a couple of junk tractors on a trailer in reverse and caused mine.

If it does not leak, top it off and have a nice weekend. If you have 4X4, they say if you back in low that it will help with that overheat.

What part of the world did you go too?

No only pulling straight. 2 hours from home in Pigeon forge. Du d nt show any signs of problems just got out to check in and it was pouring. Someone else mentioned a possible stopped up vent..not sure I'll look at in morning and if shows fluid I'll start and see if it does it still.

Our trucks have a nasty habit of popping the front seal when backing heavy loads, or at least the OEM seal. The replacements are a improved version. At the least you are looking at a seal replace. If you didn't run anything dry, it shouldn't be TOOO painful. Maybe Mark K will happen by, he's got the really BIG brain on these things.....

Were you pulling at slow speeds? That happen to me in the sand on the beach, stop and go the torq convertor never really locked up. It got hot and like you I stopped to help a friend and saw it pouring out the bottom. I shut it off, poured three or four quarts in it, stopped for the night and all was well in the morning. Ran it a couple years before I replaced it.
