Want to install a dash camera and would like to hard wire it to switched power. Ideally power that will stay on until the truck is shut off and the door is opened (like how the radio stays on)

 

You just answered your own question, tap into the stereo power wire. On my truck I'm pretty sure it's the red one off the plug in the back of the stereo.

One of the first and best mods I did was add a Painless Wiring aux fuse block with leads and a nice ground bus right behind the big removable panel. It has leads that are switched and some that are not.
