C800 Fire truck to car hauler conversion is complete

i bought a 58 C800 Firetruck late last year and converted it into a car hauler. I was able to re-purpose many of the parts.

I know this is a old thread but if you don't mind me asking what did you pay for the truck originally?

I'm not the original poster, but I've seen two similar trucks sell for $1500 each and as of a month ago I knew were a third one was for sale at the same price.
I love these old trucks but they don't seem to bring much money in stock form.

Blue Oval ****!!!

I love seeing that quad headlight C-Series in such nice shape! Almost hard to believe that it's actually 60 years old! That's even older than me...

And that Starliner... What beautiful cars those were - I even like the custom wheels!

The 1960 Fords were planned to be restyled 1959 Fords, but once 'The Deuce' looked at pics of the upcoming 1959 Chevy, a crash program was developed to design an all new 1960 Ford.

Ford outsold Chevy in 1957 & 1959, but not in 1958 or 1960. People said back then that the 1958 Ford was so ugly, that it "looked like a horse styled by a committee."

The 1960 Edsel was almost identical to the 1960 Ford, exceptions being the grille, tail lamps, side mouldings and etc trim parts. IMO, it's far better looking than the Ford.

But, less than 2,000 were assembled, as the Edsel was cancelled November 16, 1959.

I don't know, I'd say the '58 Fords were less garish than the Chevys of that year. I've seen footage of the great Curtis Turner sliding a '58 Ford (convertible I believe) through a corner on the old beach track at Daytona, and it is a sight to behold.
My Dad had a '60 Ford four door, which I think was his first new car. He traded it in for a maroon '64 Galaxie 500 two door which carried me home from the hospital after I was born.
