problem with new HP oil lines install, is it me??

So i got the CNC Fabrication LLC guys replacement and oil crossover hoses. I installed the cross over several months ago and just now getting to the hoses off the pump.

So i get the old hoses removed and start to put new fitting in head and oil pump. I held up the new hoses beside the old hoses and they look like the same length and bends.

However when i just hand tightened the hoses it became apparent the left head hose was not long enough or something was not right.

has anyone else had this issue or am i just doing it wrong..??

Just to add the build date is 09/02 the original lines were fine. i did not take a picture of them before removing but i should have.. I think that with the larger diameter of the hoses the right one need to be a bit shorter and the left one need to be almost a 1 1/2 longer so the 90 bend can go under the right side 90.

The one most forward is the DS Rail and the most AFT is the PS Rail.

Perhaps the others were installed incorrectly?

Not that there is a "real" correct way other than the OEM Spec. Which length is probably a concern.

Edit: Also, the 90* Fitting goes on the DS Rail. Also added Picture

if you reversed them on the HPOP, would it make a difference in the way it ran?

No.

Some even remove the little check springs as a cheap way to help balance the two sides. Down side to that is slightly longer starts though in my experience.

Look at the OP Picture. Look at how its routed, look at the photo in my reply. Pay particular attention as to what end is connected where. It makes a difference because..... IT WON'T RUN WITHOUT BEING HOOKED UP.

If he/she merely attached the lines differently than he has them, they would be long enough.

that is funny.. yes they have to be hooked up.. I was showing how they do not or at least the one hose, the passenger side, I was not able to connect it to the pump.

the original hoses both had 90's that were hooked to pump and went to heads. I believe the issue is the thickness of he new hoses creates a bit of a problem in routing them vs the old hoses. The passenger side hose needs to be a bit longer so it will be able to route under the driver side hose and be able to connect..

I might need to contact CNC Fab guys and lets see what we can do to fix this. As it is it won't work from what i have tried.

But the question was if you reversed them on the HPOP, would it make a difference in the way it ran? You said yes. Assuming the hoses were long enough to be connected, the answer is no.

Carl, are you saying that you can't take the drivers side hose and hook it to the front and the passenger side to the back? In that picture, it sure looks like you can.

It looks as though the driver's side hose could be routed over the fuel bowl supply line and will connect to the front HPOP port and the passenger side one would then reach the rear port.

Few things in life are better than buying aftermarket stuff and wondering why it doesn't fit or work correctly........

Stock lines "snap" right on the STC fittings.

Yes it look like that would solve the day. Problem is there is not enough room to go up on the left port on pump with the fuel line coming in like they do.. I tried to get a shot from above but was not able to be one worth a darn.
