noticeable hissing sound near rear of engine near pcv and egr 03 Aviator
I have the '03 Lincoln Aviator 4.6 DOHC. It has a noticeable knock/ping/chatter
and somewhat sluggish acceleration. I notice the pcv hose was collapsed and shredded. I replaced the hose and valve, didn't change idle or acceleration and I still hear the hissing noise in the same region. I unplugged the egr valve and started the truck, the idle was the same as before I unplugged the valve. could a bad egr valve give a vacuum leak that is hard to detect? I tried testing for leaks by squirting starter fluid near the suspect areas, and I couldn't detect anything.
could a bad pcv valve be caused by a bad egr valve and/or vise versa?

how noticeable would a bad egr valve be?
also I bought the pcv valve from standard off of amazon.com
when i took the old valve off I had to pry it from the retainer that it sits it, the retainer bolts the pcv valve into the cover, i messed up the retainer, and the new pcv wouldn't fit tight in it, so I bought a new retainer, the valve tightens down snug into the retainer, but as soon as I bolt the retainer down, the valve is slightly loose, and I can turn it and pop it out of the retainer. I wonder if I messed up the new valve by trying to force tighten into the old and damaged retainer, or could a vacuum leak be popping the valve loose when its placed into the valve cover?

watch my video and skip to 14 minutes. it sounds like a loud exhaust leak
the pcv valve is electronically controlled and its $29 don't feel like replacing it again unless i feel confident the valve is bad.
how obvious would a bad egr valve be?
thanks you for help

I doubt the bolt holes are stripped, the retainer bolts down tight to the valve cover, but it may be a possibility, I will check it next time I'm under the hood. Im wondering if I damaged the new valve somehow and that's why it loosens up in the retainer when the retainer is finally tightened down. I'm going to take the valve out of the retainer and see if I can't figure something out. I doubt the valve is bad, but who knows.
in your opinion, do you think I could have fouled spark plugs by doing a seafoam treatment?

i looked at the valve again, it tightens down good unto the retainer but there is a slight gap even though it feels tighter than hell until i bolt the retainer down to the valve cover, the pcv valve is loose enough to unscrew from the retainer, I took out the pcv valve then bolted the retainer to the valve cover, its snug and tight as hell and it bolts nicely without any snags, so I should be able to rule out a stripped retainer bolt. Also, I ordered the retainer straight from ford using my vin number and again it fits tight to the cover just like the original did. my problem is I don't think the pcv valve is supposed to jiggle while in the retainer, it should be tight, because if conditions arise, I think hard driving could loosen that enough to allow it to pop off by itself. Furthermore, when I plugged the hole and hose the truck ran a bit better it seems like but I dunno for sure. The valve is made by standard, I think I should have bought the motercraft part.
