I MISS my 6.0

It may not run right now, but it does blow a #@%@ spark plug out when I'm 150 miles from home on a limited access turn pike. Had to drive all the way home on 9 cylinders. Broke the coil pack right off.

Tomorrow will be a visit to the dealer and see what it costs to get it fixed. I'm pretty sure it's going to be something in the neighborhood of an arm or a leg. I know I could do the repair myself, but also at the price of an arm and a leg. $400 is outrageous. $100-200 I could swallow, unpleasantly, but I could do it.

Just not my day today...

Argh! I hate when bad stuff happens. At least you were able to make it home OK. I would plan on an arm and half a leg.

What's not to love? The 6.0 is great once bulletproofed etc. I could never go back to anything else on an excursion.

Once the lady and step kids are here, we'll be ditching her Cruze and getting another Excursion. She'll inherit mine and I plan on getting a 6.0 to go crazy with. I love my 7.3, but the modification returns on the 6.0 speak for themselves.

Your love for the 6.0 grows strong....

Join Me and Michael, it's bliiiiiiiissssssss

P.S. I love my 6.0 too! It's a powerful Monster (hence its name) that hasn't let me down and puts a HUGE smile on my face when I drive. I love driving it anywhere.

You gotta get yours back on the road Jay, if you were close to where I live, it'd be running by now.

I've heard of 6.0's blowing up lots of things, but a spark plug is a new one to me!

A 9 cylinder 6.8 is about a 6.1. It did get you home after all.

6.0 no?

Thought about picking up a 03 6.0 for really cheap on CL (lots of them) but found a factory installed bullet proofed Excursion instead (7.3).

Honestly the nicest X would have to be an all black 05 bullet proofed 6 liter with 2 tone quad buckets.

All the dirty things i would do for 7.3 or 6.0 right now . Sorry to hear about your upcoming repair. I had the same issues not to long ago and am running into other problems now. Good luck.

Should have said, I MISS my 6.0! Did 700 miles in the past few days, mostly highway. 6.0 would get 20+mpg on the trip, the 6.8 averaged 14mpg. Was a bit higher, but the last 150 miles on 9 cylinders dropped it down. It got me and the family home. Spark plug was sitting right in the engine valley.

Dealer quoted me around $500 and a half a day to fix it. Picking up the kit and doing it myself would be $400 for the tools + coil + plug, so about the same, plus shipping.

My 6.0 has had it's fair share of problems, but they have never been expensive, just labor intensive.

I'm rolling the dice, with the helicoil M14x1.25 kit for $50 out the door. Timesert would be nice, but it's not in the budget and I need to drive tomorrow. It'll be here by 2, I'll use a dab of JB Weld high temp on it to keep it in place, and leave it set over night. Not an ideal situation, but sometimes you gotta roll with what you have.
