1953 Panel Truck for $1,500--SAVE IT!
Saw this on CL today, the guy is going to junk It this Friday if its not sold.
If I had the room I would pick it up, though I still haven't even fixed my 57.
Located in Washington.

"has areas of rust in usual places (bottom of cab, floorboards, various spots common to older vehicles). Good news is that all body panels and parts are currently being produced"
Don't know what this guy is smoking.
$1500, no low ballers, must be sold by Friday (that was posted 9 days ago) or it goes to the junkyard. I'd bet he still has it because I doubt a junkyard would give him more than a few hundred.

Pretty close. That's about all I got for the F8 hulk I disposed of. 7000 pounds for $180. I'm sure his panel weighs about half that.

I believe once the panel is sold to the dismantler, it can only be sold back as a salvage which means there will be some hoops to jump thru to get it back on the road, which could run into more than 1500.

His price seems reasonable enough, its just an odd ad.

"glass is good..." Except for that big hole cut in the side behind the driver's door! Can't see if the pass side has been cut as well?
Follow him to scrapper and tell him you'll pay 2x what the scrapper offers. Looks a whole lot more solid than that NJ one the guy was going to fix for 400.00.

If the back doors (and the back door hinges) are reproduced I would really like to know where!
If the back doors are good then it might be worth it. Too bad he cut window holes in both sides, hood looks straight but has some rust at the front, no telling how much bondo.
Way too long a drive for me anyway...

Hope it doesn't end up like this one... Different strokes for different folks.

if I was in the market and it was in my neighborhood I would make him an offer on it. $1500 for a good starting point isn't bad. The "windows" will be a challenge to fill in, but not absolutely impossible.
