Looking at a 94 F150 4x4 I6 w/ E4OD want opinions
Needing a truck to beat on, parts truck, toy hauler, etc. The F350 gets taken out of commission often enough and I find myself in need of a truck constantly. The GF has reluctantly approved considering how many errands of hers we need a truck for. God forbid we get her heep dirty.
Found a 94 f150 I6 with E4OD single cab long bed 4x4 online about an hour and a half away. 191K he is not sure how many owners. Driven daily and sounds like he has stayed on top of engine maintenance since he bought it. I figure engine should be fine since these inline 6s are legendary for reliability, more worried about suspension, 4wd components, and front end. He is willing to deal. Leaving town for extended period and wants it gone this week.
Questions: Never drove an I6 ford OBS only V8s or diesels. Is acceleration really that bad? What kind of gas mileage should I expect? Any easy bolt on upgrades such as a header and/or exhaust system? What are the main driver differences between a 4.9 vs the 5.0 or 5.8? I know more torque on the low end but what is top end highway speed? My f350 has a C6 so anything long highway trip wise I plan on using this new acquisition for.
Thanks everyone.

The 300/E4OD combo is a perfect combo for a light truck, if you hook it up with 3.55s it will make a great light trailer puller and will still hit 65 easily on the highway, poss 70. Mileage wise, i wouldn't at all be surprised with 17+ considering the 4x4. The 300 is by no means a speedy small block, so I wouldn't be expecting it, but it will have some get up and go
