Gooseneck hitch recommendation/expierences?
Looking to install a gooseneck hitch in my truck. '95 crew cab long bed. Anybody been there done that? How much work am I getting myself into? Will I hate myself before I'm done or say "wow, glad I didn't shell out a few hundred for somebody else to do this for me!"? Also what brand hitch works best/least hassle?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I'd go with a B&W Turn over hitch. A couple of hour install, which is mostly bolt on. IIRR you have to drill 2 holes in the frame, along with the hole in the bed. The rest of the holes are in the frame already. When the hitch is not in use, the ball can be turned over, to have a flat floor in the truck bed. The only way to go in my opinion.

B&W is a good one and an on of the industry leaders.
I will say I went the other way and went with a Drop n Lock setup. I have been extremely happy with it. Requires no drilling, does not have a spring that can seize or break, and no more frozen pull rods if you live anywhere it snows. I do not know how many times I had to pull out a torch to thaw up B&Ws on our logging trucks. Both fine units but my vote is for the drop n lock. I have had up to 26k behind the truck with it. Rated for 35k I believe.

I have the drop and lock in the white one. Never have used it, but thought that was a great idea because of all the salt we deal with here. Even though it never sees salt.
The green one has a hide away one too, but its a little different set up. Its an Atwood. Rated for 25K I believe. I think the other one is too. I want to say that's made by Blue Ox

Along those same lines, I'm wondering if anyone has ever used the gooseneck attachments that mount on the rails used for a fifth wheel hitch. I have a Reese fifth wheel hitch with the above-deck rail system, but have an upcoming need for hauling a goose neck flatbed trailer.

There are actually multiple options for a gooseneck ball plate that mounts on the rail system. Many, if not most, goose neck trailer's have a coupler that is adjustable height – wise.
